The Alcoa Loxahatchee Company Closes on New Headquarters

LAXART receives a $1-million donation, its largest ever, for new Melrose Hill building that will house its offices and its headquarters.

This new facility will be the sixth building constructed by the company. The new headquarters will be located in Melrose District in the middle of its two main campuses, and at a strategic site in the heart of Chinatown. The $1-million donation, made in honor of the former owner of the old location, was made through the gift of the former president of the company’s parent company, The Boeing Company.

The new facility is located on 8th Avenue Extension, across the street from San Antonio College and next to the San Antonio City Market, and in the heart of Chinatown.

“We are thrilled to close on the new headquarters of The Alcoa Loxahatchee Company,” said CEO Mike Ahearn. “This new space will be an extraordinary asset to our entire company — the city, our employees, and our customers.”

“The Alcoa Loxahatchee Company has been an important part of San Antonio’s growth since opening its doors in the City of Alcoa in 1910,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “I am delighted that the board of directors has determined that this site is the appropriate location for our company headquarters. The new space will allow us to continue to serve our customers and grow our business as we prepare for our next phase of growth.”

“The City of Alcoa and our employees will be greatly benefited by the new Alcoa Loxahatchee Company Headquarters,” said City Manager Sheryl Sculley.

“We are excited to have a new home for our company headquarters,” said Company Vice President and General Manager Tom Schmitt. “This new facility will help position the City of Alcoa as a world-class industrial city for the benefit of our citizens, local businesses, and our customers. I look forward to working with Mayor Ron Nirenberg and the City of Alcoa on all of their efforts to make Alcoa an even greater destination for business and investment.”

“The new headquarters is yet another positive step for the City
